Why Is Trisodium Phosphate In Our Processed Foods?
Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) is a food additive, but why? TSP is used by carpenters and painters as an industrial cleaning agent used for paint preparation, as a degreasing agent, as a mildew remover, siding cleaner, and lead abatement agent.
TSP and the FDA’s hypocrisy. The FDA approved TSP to be generally recognized as safe (GRAS). Because of its alkalizing cleaning properties, TSP has been used in dishwashing and laundry products a few years ago. But studies found that TSP is bad for the environment and as such were phased out of common household cleaning products in 2011. The hypocrisy of this is outstanding; TSP is bad for our ecology, bad to come into contact with our skin, but it’s okay as a food additive.
Breakfast cereals and for that matter a high percentage of processed foods contain TSP as an ingredient. The health danger of TSP is that it is severely irritating to the gastric mucosa; TSP can produce an imbalance of minerals that lead to loss of calcium from bone and a calcification of the kidneys and arteries. The FDA daily limit of TSP is recommended to be 70mg. TSP consumed as part of the American junk food diet sometimes reaches upwards of 500mg, which leads to increase risk of health problems. So the real question is how much poison is safe to put in your mouth? It is ok to kill the population slowly, because they will not revolt, just don’t tell them how we are poisoning them. This might as well be the mission statement of the FDA.
Telomeres: The Secret To Living Longer.
There are numerous theories on exactly what causes aging, and of the most popular has to do with telomere length. The relationship between aging telomeres can be a little confusing, but I’ll do my best to explain the key points.
Telomeres are protective little caps at the end of double-stranded molecules of DNA called chromosomes. They have been compared to the plastic tips on shoe laces. Telomeres protect the ends of chromosomes from fraying and sticking to each other. Every time a cell divides, the telomere gets shorter. When they get too short, the cell can no longer divide, and it becomes inactive and dies. Telomere shortening is a sign of aging and has also been associated with oxidative damage, insulin resistance, diabetes, heart attacks, stroke, vascular dementia, obesity, osteoporosis, some forms of cancer, and the overall increase risk of death.
So the key to longevity appears to be, the maintaining or lengthening your telomeres. What research I could find on the subject suggests exercise was an important factor. Taking a Multivitamin, vitamin C, E, and D3 were also helpful. Taking N-acetylcysteine eating curcumin and turmeric and fish oil (DHA and EPA) folic acid, zinc, resveratrol were all showing up in the research as helpful to maintaining or improving telomere length. I am sure future research will yield even more helpful foods and vitamins. So here’s to living longer.
Obesity Vaccine Is Coming
The word “vaccine” is now starting to be thought of as interchangeable with the word “medication” or “medicine”. This is precisely why we are hearing about vaccines to treat things like acne, high cholesterol, cocaine addiction, stress, depression, high blood pressure, bad breath and obesity. The possibilities are endless, and of course, so are the profits for Big Pharma- particularly since the pharmaceutical industry is shielded from any civil liability for vaccine injuries, deaths, or failures. There is no need for makers of products labeled as vaccines to spend money on legal fees to defend themselves against lawsuits for harmful or ineffective vaccine products because the U.S. Congress and U.S. Supreme Court have banned such law suits. And since the 21st Century Cures Act was passed by Congress last year to lower FDA vaccine licensing standards even further, there will be no need for drug companies to conduct clinical trials to prove the safety and effectiveness of their experimental vaccines. You are the research Guinee pig.
Almost weekly, I hear of a new vaccine being developed for something odd that it makes me think: Huh? A vaccine for what? Slowly but surely, people are being conditioned to accept all proposed applications for a new vaccine, no matter how strange. Like the new obesity vaccination that is being called the “Flab Jab”. Yes I wrote it correctly “Flab Jab”. How insulting.
An obesity vaccine is the perfect example of the absurd direction in which the vaccine industry is going because there is no oversight on, or breaks applied to scientist and the public health officials driving the runaway vaccine train. With nearly one billion dollars appropriated by congress to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HSS) in charge of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC), just how much money is going to fund research and development of ill-conceived vaccines that are not really vaccines at all?
Our Attitude about Drugs
The United States has the highest level of illegal and legal drug use in the world. Strangely, when you look at the research, this isn’t simply related to federal or state policies and/or the strictness of laws. For example, a 2008 study looked at both legal and illegal drug usage in 17 countries. It found that Americans were four times more likely to use cocaine in their lifetime than the next closest country, New Zealand (16 percent vs 4 percent). The US also had the highest marijuana use at 42.4 percent. The war on drugs and stricter laws has raised our minimum drinking age and punitive policies for illegal drug usage to no avail. In the Netherlands, which has some of the most liberal drug laws in the world, only 1.9 percent of the population uses cocaine and 19.8 percent use marijuana.
Even with legal drugs like tobacco, we were at the top with 74percent having used it during their lifetime, followed by Lebanon (67 percent) and Mexico (66percent). We Americans consume 80 percent of the world’s opioid pain medications and 99 percent of the world’s hydrocodone.
As you can see we’ve normalized the use of drugs, and it’s not going to change anytime soon. Pharmaceutical companies spend billions in advertising, which has sped up the process. Technology is also playing a role. For instance, the use of e-cigarettes (vaping) has become an acceptable way to discretely boost nicotine levels in public without offending anyone. The only distinction between legal and illegal drugs is the premise (or guise) that legal drugs are for the treatment of disease.
Our society has falsely been led to believe that, from cradle to grave, drugs are the answer to everything that ails us. Our actions have gradually normalized drug use and, over time, behavior becomes habit.
The Basics of Inflammation Chemistry Part 2
Cytokines are proteins that are produced by all cells. There are dozens of cytokines. However, I am going to focus on the most famous pro-inflammatory cytokines, those being interleukin-1 (IL-1), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor (TNF). The most important anti-inflammatory cytokine is interleukin-10 (IL-10).
As with eicosanoids, we need a balance of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. The difference between eicosanoids and cytokines is that we literally “eat” eicosanoids based on our consumption of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids, which are converted into the eicosanoids. We do not eat the immediate precursors of cytokines.
Cytokines are produced in response to stressful stimuli, such as mental/emotional stressors, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, and poor diet. Since life is naturally stressful, we need to avoid the stressors over which we can exert significant control. Sugar, flour, n-6 fatty acids, and the Trans fats have all been shown to increase the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, so they should be avoided. Drugs have been produced for each of the cytokines however rather than taking a hand full of drugs; we should avoid the pro-inflammatory foods that promote IL-1, IL-6, and TNF production, and engage in lifestyle choices that stimulate the production anti-inflammatory IL-10. Interestingly, exercise is a promotor of IL-10 production which provides us with another reason to exercise regularly. There are also multiple nutritional ways to promote IL-10 production. Vitamin D, Omega-3 fatty acids, saturated fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid, green tea, probiotics and alcohol have all been shown to promote the production of IL-10.
So instead of eating ourselves into disease we should be eating ourselves back to health by our careful choices of food and regular exercise.
The Basics Of Inflammation Chemistry Part 1
There are many categories of biochemicals that are associated with inflammation such as eicosanoids (eee-koseanoids), cytokines, and growth factors all of which have normal levels that are desirable. Most of these chemicals are either anti-inflammatory and associated with health, or pro-inflammatory and associated with disease. When we ate a pro-inflammatory diet of refined sugar, refined grains, refined omega-6 oils, and Tran’s fats we cause an imbalance in our body which causes the body to produce excess pro-inflammatory eicosanoids, cytokines, and growth factors.
Our cells produce eicosanoids, from dietary fatty acids, specifically omega-6 (n-6) from animal fats, and omega-3 (n-3) fatty acids from vegetables, fruits, and nuts. You have likely heard of fish oil which is high in n-3 healthy and is anti-inflammatory. N-6 fatty acids come from animals, and are pro-inflammatory. Our bodies need both but in the proper ratio of 4 n-6, to 1 n-3 or less. The problem is most packaged foods have a ratio much higher than the 4:1 ratio, and most Americans live chronically with ratios between 10:1 to 25:1 which is highly inflammatory.
Linoleic acid (n-6) is found in corn oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, peanut, and soy bean oil. After eating n-6 linoleic acid, our body coverts it into n-6 arachidonic acid, which is then inserted into the membrane around all of our cells. This means that the anatomy of our cells literally becomes inflamed. The pro-inflammatory eicosanoids are prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), prostaglandin F2 (PGF2), Thromboxane A2 (TXA2), and Leukotriene B4 (LTB4).
In contrast, we get n-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALnA) from greens and seeds such as hemp, chia, and flax. Our body converts ALnA into eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docasahexaenoic acid (DHA), which is converted into anti-inflammatory eicosanoids. Prostaglandin E3 (PGE3), prostaglandin F3 (PGF3), Thromboxane A3 (TXA3), Leukotriene B5 (LTB5). We Also get EPA/DHA directly from eating wild fish and land animals and birds that eat grass or vegetation in the wild.
If our diet is anti-inflammatory, taming the flame, containing healthy animal products, vegetables, tubers/roots, fruit, nuts, and omega-3 seeds, we will have an n-6:n-3 ratio that is less than 4:1. The problem is that the average American has a 10:1 to 25:1 ratio, which means our cells are in an inflamed state and produce an excessive amount of n-6 eicosanoids, which are pro-inflammatory and disease promoting.
Taming The Flame Is Disease Prevention!
Health Care practitioners learn about inflammation in physiology and pathology textbooks. The topic is almost exclusively described to us in the context of infection and traumatic injury along with the four signs of swelling, pain, redness, and heat. While these signs are true for infection and injury inflammation we now have a whole new type of inflammation which affects the entire body.
It is now clearly established that inflammation can be present without swelling, pain, redness, and heat. Simply being “stressed out” can cause our cells to release the same inflammatory chemicals that are released from infection and injury. It is because any challenge to the body’s homeostasis, is perceived by the body as a potentially threatening or injurious insult that must be defended against. This defense involves the release of inflammatory chemicals by most of the body cells. Even eating just one fast-food meal can cause the release of inflammatory chemicals, which is why I call this activity a “drive-by self-shooting.”
For healthy individuals, short-lived stress, the occasional loss of sleep and the occasional drive-by self-shooting is not problematic because the inflammatory response is short-lived. In contrast, when stress, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, and eating inflammatory foods become a lifestyle, a state of chronic inflammation develops, which is capable of damaging tissues without the four warning signs. Eventually pain may develop, but there will be no heat, redness, and minimal swelling.
In short diet-induced inflammation transforms the body into a degenerated state, more accurately, a mutated state. Multiple conditions are associated with a state of chronic inflammation, such as frequent cold symptoms, frequent flu symptoms, frequent allergies, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, sinusitis, acne, asthma, digestive conditions, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, hypertension, depression, metabolic syndrome, prediabetes, and diabetes.
So “taming the flame” by eating foods that reduce inflammation, may just be the best disease prevention we have found on this planet.
Save Money While Taming the Flame
Inflammation is the cause of most chronic diseases and chronic disease management is expensive and can lead to a mountain of debt. Living a pro-inflammatory lifestyle leads to chronic disease at a much younger age let’s say by 30-40 and subsequently disability for the next 20-40 years. We are living sicker longer.
Conversely if you eat a flame taming lifestyle you will rarely need the doctor because you will be healthy. The only time you will need a doctor is when you hurt yourself or have an acute illness.
Why is health care so expensive? Bringing new drugs and other treatment innovations to market is very expensive, which leads to extremely high cost for certain drugs and treatment. For example if you pursue an inflamed state and reach the goal of developing rheumatoid arthritis you may be prescribed a TNF-antagonist, such as Enbrel, Remicade, or Humira. These can cost up to $1,500.00 per month. Certain non-absorbed antibiotics used to treat irritable bowel syndrome, such as Rifaximin can cost $800.00 for a 10-day supply. Surgery is far more expensive and since the cost of running a hospital is expensive, it can cost thousands of dollars a day to stay in one.
Simply stated if you stop pursuing disease, or never pursue disease in the first place, you can avoid the crippling cost of chronic sickness-disease care management. With lots of taming the flame foods and a little bit of healthy luck, you can set yourself free of all the health care expense and chronic disease worry.
No Feeling Of Guilt While “Taming The Flame”
Understand that “taming the flame is not about being a meat eater, vegetarian or vegan. All three of these eating approaches can “tame the flame” as long as “dietary crack” is avoided. However the only group that is made to feel guilty about their eating is the meat eaters. We are repeatedly told that animal fat is going to kill us. Regarding cheese and bacon, I have actually had people freak out on me when I tell them that animal fat can be considered anti-inflammatory or more accurately, as part of an anti-inflammatory diet to “tame the flame.”
People freak out about cheese and bacon for many reasons, but in my experience there are two main ones to consider. First, they do not understand that chronic inflammation is a “state” that we transform into by the entirety of our dietary choices, eating “dietary crack”, not from eating single foods like a couple pieces of bacon and cheese. Secondly people think I am saying something like “eat bacon and cheese by the pound every meal every day.” My impression is that people conjure up this absolutely foolish misconception because every one of us has been exposed to anti-fat propaganda for the majority of our lives. So if you like to eat animal fat, you should not feel guilty or worry about inflammation or disease. The problem to worry about is the over consumption of “dietary crack” which is refined grains, sugars, and oils.
A key point to understand about “taming your flame” is that you can eat a lot of anti-inflammation foods, feel full and lose weight. Starvation is not part of “taming the flame.” In fact eating several pounds of vegetation per day will help you feel full and satisfied and still lose weight if that is your goal. I like a good salad and steak myself.
Let’s Tame The Flame
I have already written about the 60% we are eating that fuels the flame; now let me write about what we are eating that is currently helping to tame the flame. The vegetable portion of our diet is only 10% and the protein from meat and chicken is 20%. I think grass feed beef and free range chickens are better but for most of us it is too expensive and difficult to shop for. I buy my food from the same places you do and for taming the flame is does not make much of a difference. Taming the flame can still be achieved if one consumes the standard animal products found in regular grocery stores. This is because, from an Inflammation-producing standpoint, these animal products are not an issue when we compare them to the refined sugar, flour, and oils; on a long-term basis, nothing hurts the body more than “dietary crack.”
The American diet contains approximately 10% of calories from dairy, which includes milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, etc. There is no evidence that this percentage of dairy calories will create chronic inflammation. My suggestion is to go with organic varieties of you can.
A mere 10% of calories are derived from vegetables, fruit, tubers/roots, nuts, beans and whole grains. This is a big problem for the average American. We consume far too few anti-inflammatory calories and way to many of the inflammatory calories. So tame the flame by eating more vegetables. Just because you do not eat them, does not mean you do not need them.
Fuel For The Flame
The degree to which we need to tame the flame really depends on how inflamed one is and one’s individual health goals. First let’s start with the average American diet which is very pro-inflammation. 20% from refined sugars, 20% from refined grains, 20% from refined seed oils, 20% commercially grown meat chicken eggs and fish, 10% dairy, 1% alcohol, 10% vegetables. Clearly the average American subsists largely on pro-inflammatory foods and very few consider how much of their diet is actually causing them to become ill and diseased. This means the average American needs to make substantial efforts to tame the flame.
40% of our calories come from refined carbohydrates (20% sugar, 20% grains). Refined sugars refer to white table sugar (sucrose), high fructose corn syrup, glucose, and other sources such as honey and syrups. Refined grains include flour, flour products, cereals, breads, cakes, cookies, donuts, and grains such as white rice. I like to call this 40% of our diet “white trash” and it is pro-inflammation.
20% of our calories are from refined seed oils and include oils from corn, sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, and cottonseeds, rape seeds, as well as the oils from soybeans and peanuts. These oils are used most commonly in salad dressings, cooking oils, shortenings and margarine. Very often these oils are converted into Tran’s fats, which are listed as partially hydrogenated on the labels. These are also the oils in deep fryers, which are most commonly used to deep fry potatoes, chicken, and fish. These oils are also pro-inflammation.
Based on the numbers, it is important to cement into our brains the very sad fact that 60% of what we put into our mouths does not qualify as food and did not even exist on earth until modern times. Despite tasting good, the bitter truth is these calorie sources have absolutely no nutritional value and represent “dietary injury” to the body and promotes inflammation, pain, chronic disease, and suffering. To make matters worse, these “foods” are addictive. So it turns out that the human body has an addiction to the foods that cause disease. This is why I refer to these calorie sources as “dietary crack.” Since these calorie sources are craved by almost all of us, this makes us all “dietary crackheads.”
Tame The Flame Mindset
The most important point to understand is that the anti-inflammatory foods we mentioned last week are also mentioned in most contemporary nutrition books and up to date diet books. The main difference is in the point of view and your understanding of taming the flame. The “Zone Diet”, The “Paleo Diet”, The “Atkins Diet” are not metabolic states to achieve for better health, they are diets and diets have a negative connotation.
However we can definitely “Tame the flame”, which refers to creating an anti-inflamed state of body metabolism; a healing state. In other words “taming the flame mindset further allows us to ask an important question when we are about to ate something: will this food “inflame” my body or help “tame the flame” in my body.
Taming the flame paradigm also explains why we don’t feel well, why we are tired, why we get depressed, why we hurt, why disease develops, why we over eat, why we got fat, why getting fat can make use get fatter, why getting fat prevents us from losing weight, why we are driven to eat unhealthy foods, as well as many more examples. Our “taming the flame” mindset is vitally important in order to be successful anti-inflammatory eaters, to regain or maintain our health.
Taming The Flame.
Chronic inflammation is known to be the underlying cause of chronic pain and most diseases. In the next few articles I will be reviewing how to Tame the inflammation, or taming the flame. The term pro-inflammatory refers to the promotion of an inflamed state within our body. In contrast, anything that is referred to as taming the flame will reduce inflammation. We should endeavor to tame the flame.
Taming the flame is about eating healthy foods and understanding how healthy flame taming foods support normal body function compared to unhealthy pro-inflammatory foods that hurt the body and promote disease. When this is understood, it is easy to avoid the seemingly confusing and contradictory information about nutrition that appears so often in the news.
Foods that feed the flame are refined sugars, refined grains, grain flower products, Trans fats, and refined omega-6 seed oils (corn, safflower, sunflower, peanut etc.).
Foods that tame the flame are Grass-feed meat and wild game, wild caught fish, shell fish, chicken, eggs, cheese, vegetables, salads(leafy greens), fruits, nuts, healthy oils(olive oil, coconut oil, butter, avocado, and bacon), spices of all kinds, red wine and stout beer, and coffee and tea(green tea is the best option).
This is a good starting place to tame the flame to become healthy and shed a few pounds.
Cancer’s Kryptonite Found By Accident
In my weight loss practice I recommend a Low carbohydrate life style, which is eating healthy vegetables and high quality proteins. And not eating sugar, starchy vegetables, and the grains. The goal is to have the patient in very slight ketosis.
In reading this past week Tripping Over the Truth which is all about cancer and future ways to treat cancer based on Dr. Otto Warburg’s Hypothesis from the 1930s that cell mitochondria (the energy production unit of the cell) has stopped working. Healthy mitochondria make fuel to feed the cell. They do this by using oxygen to break down a molecule called pyruvate. Pyruvate can come from macronutrients such as carbohydrates, protein and fats. When mitochondria stop working properly, like in cancer Warburg found the cell went into a desperation mode and began to ferment glucose for fuel, and started to reproduce out of control.
Cancers sweet tooth for glucose is well established in the research and in fact, that is how cancer is located in the body just combine glucose and a radio isotope and the cancer well show up on the scanning apparatus. So change the metabolism to slight ketosis and the sick mitochondria die and the healthy ones take back over. The only problem with this is that there is very little money to be made. Big Pharma is not going to turn loose of their cash cow cancer treatments.
So prevent and treat cancer with a low carbohydrate diet along with medical treatment until they catch up. It will take 30 plus years before this is mainstream.
More On Carrots
Carrots have so many health benefits I just had to have two articles to scratch the surface. Carrots are an excellent detoxifier of xenoestrogens IE. Estrogen disrupters and mimickers, which are partly responsible for endometriosis, early onset puberty, miscarriages, and breast cancer in women. And for the men they are in part contributors to prostate and testicular cancer, infertility, erectile dysfunction, and breast enlargement. In both sexes xenoestrogens lead to obesity and diabetes. Carrots have a unique ability to lock onto xenoestrogens and carry them out of the body.
Studies have shown that carrots can lower cholesterol, and triglycerides. Smokers may have a way to reverse some of the damage they have done from years of smoking by consuming carrots. The beta-carotene in carrots in the best part of the carrot for smokers and boiling the carrots allows for a much higher absorption of the beta-carotene. Some researchers have called carrots the morning after food for when you have exposed to any carcinogenic compounds.
So eat your carrots raw, juice them, boil them, put them in your soaps, just make sure you get your carrot a day.
A Carrot a Day May Keep the Doctor Away
Plants have developed various compounds that help them survive in their environment. Being a root vegetable that grows in the ground, carrots need protection from both fungi and bacteria in the soil. Carrots produce their own fungicides and bactericides which act as natural antiseptics and antibiotics in the human intestinal tract.
Certain forms of bacteria called gram negative bacteria contain endotoxins as part of their cell structure which are released upon cell death which are responsible for many of the disease processes we experience from pathogenic bacterial infections. When an antibiotic kills the bacteria these endotoxins are released in our bodies. Carrots can really help in this area, the fibers of carrots have been shown to attach themselves to the endotoxin and the pathogenic bacteria and carry them out of the body. So a carrot a day might help during this cold and flu season.
Today’s Cancer Prevention May Be tomorrow’s Cancer Treatment
Gut bacteria have long been gaining traction in the area of cancer prevention. Just last year, researchers at the University of Chicago found that giving mice Bifidobacterium, which normally resides in the gut, was as effective as immunotherapy in controlling the growth of skin cancer. And when immunotherapy and bacteria therapy were combined tumor growth was eliminated.
In a nut shell, researchers are realizing that microbes in the gut control your body’s reaction to cancer. And it’s not limited to cancers that appear in the gut, but anywhere in the body. Microbes in your gut can dial up inflammation, or tone down inflammation and modulate their reaction to cancer. Top researchers feel that the addition of certain bacteria will open up more doors to effective cancer treatment.
I realize cancer prevention is not as glamorous or as exciting as cancer treatment, but it still is the better of the two. So consume your probiotic and know you are helping your body fight cancer.
A New Look At Pica
Pica is a type of eating disorder often found in livestock, especially cattle. It is characterized by persistent cravings and consumption of nonfood items. It primarily occurs when there’s a deficiency of bulk fiber or certain minerals in the diet.
Animals with pica start eating things like dirt, clay, paint chips, wire, bones, plastic, rocks, paper, wood, even feces.
In early medical literature, pica was also a fairly common diagnosis among humans, particularly in children and pregnant women. Although pica diagnoses are rare these days, it certainly can’t be because we’ve eliminated all mineral deficiencies. I suspect it’s because the most common cravings we see these days are for “acceptable” items. We’d recognize pica more often if we reclassified about half of the so-called foods in the grocery stores as nonfood items, since they have no nutritional food value.
Here are a few of the common cravings and their associated deficiencies. Cravings for chocolate and/or acidic foods are associated with a lack of magnesium. Cravings for sugary and burnt foods are related to deficiencies in chromium, sulfur, phosphorus, and carbon. Refined carbohydrate cravings (bread and pasta) often indicate a lack of nitrogen. Salt cravings can indicate a need for chloride and/or silicon. Coffee or Black tea cravings can result from deficiencies in iron, salt, phosphorus, and sulfur. Ice chewing has been associated with iron deficiencies.
Our Current Health System Isn’t Working
It’s apparent our current health system (if you could call it that) to treat disease or “prevent” it with a lifetime of drugs isn’t working. The latest figures from 2015 showed health care cost in this country have surged to 17 percent of our gross national product (GNP)-$3.207 trillion last year.
For the first time in history, health care spending in this country has reached $10,000 for every man, woman, and child. That’s double the amount of the next highest country and obviously higher than any country on earth.
Analyses say that when hospital copays reach more than $2,600 they can forget about collecting. More than half of these hospital bills don’t get paid, which adds up to over $60 billion in uncompensated care. I do not know how to solve all of these problems without some serious hardship. I do know that prevention and being able to treat problems nutritionally is more important than ever. And when it comes to the comment that supplements do nothing but create expensive urine, I say peeing out 50 cents to a dollar of excess vitamin’s every day, knowing that I’m helping supply my body with what it needs to function properly, is worth every penny.
I honestly believe that everyday your body goes without the nutrients it needs, there’s cumulative damage significant enough to shorten your life by minutes or hours each day. A good nutritional supplement program is cheap insurance-insurance you simply can’t afford to be without.
A Little Helpful Advice
Health information sometimes comes from the least likely of sources. I was reviewing an article about bodybuilders who have pushed the envelope to see how far they can push the human body. Their methods are not always legal or safe. And the results of their experimentation don’t always end well. Bodybuilders started using creatine in the 1990s because it enlarged muscle tissue by drawing in more water into the tissue.
Beyond pumping up the muscles creatine has many health benefits. Creatine can help prevent and in many cases slow the progression of a long list of muscular and neurological conditions like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease), multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease. When combined with exercise creatine helps build lean muscle mass. Even more amazing it helps protect the brain in event of a stroke.
With the high incidence of stroke in our society, I don’t know why the public isn’t being told to take creatine every day for stroke prevention. In addition, creatine has been shown to improve memory, particularly in the elderly.
I TOLD YOU SO…
I have written many articles on vaccinations, toxins and eating healthy, as a way to be healthier and live without the chronic diseases of our modern society. When I came across an article about a segment of our population whose diet consist of eating organic, fresh, locally grown and of course home cooked meals. This segment of our population also does not follow the medically established vaccination routines. To the dismay of mainstream media and the medical establishment, this has resulted in a healthier group of people who do not experience most of the chronic diseases of modern society, such as Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and of course their autism rates are very low, only three documented cases. Almost too good to be true, yet it is. It only gets better.
How is it we can have a healthier group of people, without our chemically-engineered medicines, genetically modified food (GMO), and vaccinated for every childhood disease, (most of which are not life threatening)?
This group has stood up to government harassment by health officials, who attempt to convince them to vaccinate their children for their own good and the good of the whole community. This segment of our population is causing an embarrassment of the media, the medical establishment and all of their reasons to vaccinate. The medical profession and vaccine proponents are willing to espouse any ridiculous explanation, so long as they do not have to accept that their industry is causing chronic lifelong disease, and is a major contributor to the demise of the health of this country (The USA ranks #37 out of 37 among industrialized nations).
So who are these healthy people who have created such a stir without any intention and have unconsciously become recognized as a healthy segment of our population and in doing so have placed a bull’s eye on their back for future harassment? The Amish shun most of our modern ways of life yet inadvertently remind us, that our modern ways and medical advancements may not be the best choice for our health.
Could High Fructose Corn Syrup Be Wrecking Your Health?
I recently read about nine dangers of by High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and thought I should share them with you.
1. Weight gain. A Princeton University study found that HFCS causes more weight gain than refined sugar does. Who among us could stand to lose a little weight?
2. Cancer. Research from 2010published by the American Association for cancer research found that the fructose in HFCS promotes cancer growth, specifically pancreatic cancer. Cancer loves sugar and apparently cancer likes HFCS even more.
3. Fatty Liver and Liver Stress. HFCS is metabolized in the body thought the liver in the pathway as alcohol causing fatty liver disease. I have written on this with our younger generation having fatty liver disease starting in their 20’s.
4. Increased Cholesterol levels. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that only two weeks of moderate consumption of HFCS caused cholesterol and triglyceride levels to rise.
5. Diabetes. Sugar is bad for diabetes and HFCS is worse. The fructose in HFCS does come from fruit but unlike fruit HFCS does not have the fiber to slow the absorption of the fructose.
6. High Blood Pressure. Research has shown that consuming 60 grams of fructose can increase systolic blood pressure in humans. I could write pages on this, but space is limited.
7. Heart Disease. A 15-year Harvard study showed participants who took in 25 percent or more of their daily calories as sugar or HFCS were more than twice as likely to die from heart disease than those whose diets included less than 10 percent added sugars.
8. Leaky Gut Syndrome. The Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute found that HFCS depletes the cellular energy source in our guts which is required to maintain the integrity of our intestinal lining. Thus creating a leaky gut.
9. Increase Mercury Intake. Mercury is used in the manufacturing of HFCS and a little of it makes it to the final product. Mercury has a negative effect on the liver, kidneys, and brain.
You choose which one you want to live without.
The Autism Epidemic
If you do not think that something that is on track to effect 1 in every 2 boys and 1 in every 4 girls by the year 2032 is an epidemic just wait. The question that I have is what is causing the huge up tread in the number of children with autism? Is It a Virus, a vaccine, a bacterium, a food allergy, a mold, a mosquito, or maybe early antibiotic over load? For all the attention that Zeka has received in the media you think something that has the potential to harm an entire generation of our children would get more media attention. Or maybe the cause is already known and it’s a big cover-up.
I recently went to a Holistic approach seminar on how to treat children who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Number one is who do you think knows your children better you or your doctor? Let me explain, as our children are in their first months of life we are excited when they start smiling back at use and interacting with us. We make mental notes of when their first words are spoken and what those words were and to whom they were spoken. In short we are paying attention. What the doctors have been saying to parents, who suspect a vaccine has injured their child, is that we as parents, grandparent and family do not know what we witnessed in our families development. That the regression after vaccinations is normal childhood development, that these children never were normal, and we have been imagining there development. Number one these types of statements make my blood boil and then I get suspicious of what they are trying to cover up. So I invite you to go to your computer and type in pediatrician, vaccinations, and kickback. This is what I found out. The average American pediatrician has 1546 patients, the majority of them are very young, and Blue Cross Blue Shield pays their doctors $400.00 per fully vaccinated child. So let’s do some math. 1546 X $400= $618,400. Please look it up for yourself and read several articles because this is the tip of the cover-up. Our children have been and are being sold out. For doctors to deny vaccinations are part of the autism spectrum disorder is laughable and they have a huge incentive to comply, $618,400 in income per year and their carriers, houses and their children’s private schooling. Where do you think your child rates in your doctor’s priorities? Just giving you something to think about.
Do You Know What’s In Your Vaccinations?
To start with I put this information out there so you can be informed. I am not affected by your choice to, or not to vaccinate. I would encourage everyone to help protect that right, as it is currently being challenged. The CDC is trying to take our civil rights away, with a rule granting police powers to forcibly detain, isolate, vaccinate and quarantine. Please contact your U.S. Congressional Representative and Senator and ask him to stop this outrageous federal overreach.
I am going to list substances that appear in the final vaccine product. Not the process ingredients (the substances used to create the vaccine that may or may not appear). This is for vaccines approved by the FDA and recommended by the CDC. African Green Monkey (Vero) cells, aluminum, cow products, Cocker Spaniel cells, formaldehyde, human fetal lung tissue cells, insect products, and mouse brains.
Though not listed, each vaccine contains strains of the virus being vaccinated against. I would prefer Shih Tzu cells instead of Cocker Spaniel cells but that’s me. Really I don’t think our bodies are in need of any of this concoction and if you want to do a little research on your computer you will realize I have only shown you the tip of the iceberg.
How To Keep The Flu Bug Away!
The flu vaccinations are sold on the premise of prevention. The fact of the matter is they don’t work but the idea of prevention is a very good idea and I am going to give you what I have done for years to keep me healthy.
There are many foods and supplements that help keep you from contracting the flu. Vitamin D the sunshine vitamin is at the top of the list. During the winter months when we have less sunshine, is when the flu season spikes and many scientists agree that the lack of sunshine and the decrease in vitamin D production by our own bodies is a primary reason. Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is also good because it helps reduce oxidative stress on the body. In recent years turmeric, has come onto use to boost your immune system.
Glutathione is an amino acid that is probably one of your bodies’ most important antioxidants. Glutathione also helps recycle other antioxidants such as vitamin A, C, and D. and can be increased through the consumption of properly processed whey powder. It is also found in the cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, and kale. Glutathione is also needed in the production of white blood cells, including natural Killer (NK) cells. Without going into too much detail NK cells make up about half of the white blood cells and are your first line of defense against any form of invasion to the body. It’s their job to detect and destroy all types of pathogens as soon as they enter the body.
It is your right to get a flu shoot or not. Most of my patients have gotten a flu shot, some recently, it is your choice and I am OK with that. I am here to help and educate. Next week I will write about what is in the flu shot.
Will The Flu Shot Protect YOU From Getting The Flu?
The push for flu shots is a seasonal ritual that begins in late fall. I’ve seen free flu shots offered with your doughnuts, at work, and at voting locations. It would make as much sense to give away a lottery ticket-they’d give about the same amount of protection from the flu, without any side effects.
I've written on the ineffectiveness of the flu immunization many times and I still don’t believe there is any benefit, even with our current knowledge and technology. Each spring researchers try to figure out which of the many hundred strains of flu virus might rear its ugly head the coming winter. Their best guesses determine what’s included in the next year’s flu shot, and there’s no guarantee they’ll get it right. Even when they get it right like two years ago the various strains of these viruses are constantly mutating. The whole situation is like trying to win the lottery. You may match up a couple of numbers and get really close but you almost never win. In the flu immunization game, the pharmaceutical companies are in better shape as long as the public stay’s hood winked, big pharma wins. New laws make them immune from product liability lawsuits, and even though adverse reactions have been shown to occur in as many as half of all users. The success of the ritual is based on fear, not effectiveness. It doesn’t have to work… and it doesn’t.
Potential Help For Migraine Sufferers
I was reading an article about migraines and the current methods of treatment and found a very unique method that may help migraine sufferers. An SPG block refers to a technique that deadens the sphenopalatine ganglion. A ganglion is a cluster of nerves and the sphenopalatine ganglion supplies motor (muscle) and sensory control for behind the eyes and down the neck. It can be an effective technique for stopping cluster and migraine headaches when they first start. SPG block is not a complete cure but can help to control the severity of the headache. SPG block has been around for nearly 100 years.
Now you can reproduce the effects of SPG at home or in your car. The next time you feel a headache coming on, go to your freezer or local ice cream shop and get a little ice cream or slush, and eat or drink it too fast, creating a little brain freeze. The same nerves are affected as the SPG without the injection. The brain freeze is not as powerful as an injection but it may be just enough to stop the headache from getting a foot hold and ruining your day or the next three days. I like the slush better because I think the straw puts the cold on the back of the throat causing a more intense brain freeze. This is good tasting medicine, enjoy!
